The Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 is a fast-aperture telephoto zoom lens designed for Nikon Z-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. Its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture delivers strong low-light performance and helps create attractive background blur for portraits, events, sports, and everyday telephoto photography.
The lens combines Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor autofocus system with VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilisation for responsive focusing and improved stability when shooting handheld. Its updated optical design includes specialised lens elements and BBAR-G2 coating to help reduce optical aberrations, flare, and ghosting.
With a close-focusing distance of just 0.3m at the wide end, this lens also supports detailed close-up compositions. Its compact design makes it a versatile option for photographers seeking professional telephoto performance without a larger, heavier zoom lens. The Nikon Z version launched on 23 October 2025.
